The ancient Treviso town of Oderzo reveals the fragments of the glory of Opitergium, an important Roman Municipium.
The traces of the glorious past constitute one of the oldest archaeological museums in Italy which was founded in 1876 and which is located in the open granary of Palazzo Foscolo. Here you can find artifacts from pre-Roman, Roman and late antiquity. This sixteenth-century building is also home to the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Pinacoteca.
A visit to Oderzo reserves many other surprises, such as the discovery of the Cathedral of San Giovanni Battista and the ancient Loggia Comunale. But that’s not all, also the spectacular Piazza Grande, counted among the most beautiful in the Veneto region for its stage shape which hosts the “Opera in Piazza” festival every year.
Not far from Oderzo stands the seventeenth-century Borgo #Rechsteiner, a splendid villa immersed in the countryside north of Venice. The 17th-century Barchessa and the 19th-century Dairy with Pigeon Tower are located at the entrance to the Borgo and have now been respectively transformed into a multifunctional hall and a Wine-Store with tasting room. Rechsteiner experiences include: accommodation in a farmhouse, food and wine tours, educational activities, picnics in the vineyard and more!
